A Florida man is facing a stalking charge after police say a consensual threesome with a couple was followed by weeks of unwanted messages, repeated appearances and escalating behavior that eventually prompted the pair to contact authorities.
Darren Voss, 32, was arrested after investigators said he continued pursuing the couple despite being told their encounter was a one-time arrangement and that they did not want further contact.
According to police, Voss met the couple socially before the three adults agreed to a consensual sexual encounter. Investigators said the alleged stalking began shortly afterward when Voss started repeatedly texting both partners and asking when they could meet again.
The couple initially responded and made it clear they were not interested in another encounter, police said. Voss allegedly continued contacting them after being told to stop.
Investigators said the couple eventually blocked his phone number and social media accounts. Voss is accused of attempting to get around those restrictions by contacting them through additional numbers and accounts.
The unwanted attention allegedly soon extended beyond electronic communication.
Police said the couple reported seeing Voss at several places they regularly visited. During one encounter, he allegedly waited in a parking lot and approached one member of the couple as that person walked toward a vehicle.
The couple again told him to leave them alone, according to police.
Authorities said the situation escalated when Voss allegedly appeared uninvited at the couple’s home. He knocked on the door but the residents refused to answer, investigators said. The couple later reported seeing a vehicle resembling his near their residence on additional occasions.
Concerned that the behavior was becoming more persistent, the couple began documenting the alleged incidents. Police said they saved messages and screenshots and recorded dates and locations where they believed Voss had appeared.
The pair eventually contacted law enforcement and provided investigators with the material they had collected.
Authorities said the evidence, along with statements from the couple, led investigators to seek charges against Voss.
He was subsequently arrested on a stalking charge.
Under Florida law, stalking generally involves willfully, maliciously and repeatedly following, harassing or cyberstalking another person. More serious circumstances, including certain threats or violations of protective orders, can result in enhanced charges.
Court proceedings in the case are pending.
An arrest is an accusation, and Voss is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
