Mississippi Twins Accused of Using Dating Apps to Target and Rob Victims

Must read

Mississippi (AP) Authorities in Mississippi have arrested a set of twins accused of using dating apps to lure unsuspecting men and women back to their homes, where police say the victims were robbed.

According to investigators, Marcus Hill and Malik Hill, both 26 years old, are accused of creating dating profiles designed to quickly build trust with potential matches. After meeting in person, the twins allegedly returned with victims to residences in several Mississippi communities. Once inside, police say valuables including cash, cell phones, jewelry, and designer items were taken, often when victims were distracted or asleep.

Marcus Hill is described by authorities as standing 5 feet 10 inches tall, while Malik Hill is slightly taller at 5 feet 11 inch. Despite their similar appearance, detectives say subtle differences helped victims and investigators distinguish between the two during the investigation.

Law enforcement officials said the crimes followed a similar pattern, allowing detectives to link multiple incidents. Surveillance footage, digital evidence, and victim statements ultimately led to the twins’ arrest. Police believe the brothers sometimes acted together and, in other cases, operated independently using the same approach.

No serious physical injuries were reported, but officials stressed that the emotional impact on victims was significant. “These victims believed they were inviting a potential romantic interest into their homes,” a police spokesperson said. “Instead, that trust was exploited.”

The twins have each been charged with multiple counts of robbery, burglary, and conspiracy under Mississippi law. Investigators say additional charges are possible as they continue reviewing other reports and are encouraging anyone who may have had similar encounters to come forward.

Authorities are reminding dating app users to take safety precautions, including meeting new matches in public places, sharing plans with trusted contacts, and avoiding bringing unfamiliar people into their homes. The case remains under active investigation.
